Hey Reader,

Last night I got to connect in person with some awesome humans here in Sydney during our Pack mastermind alumni meetup. You might recognise some of their faces (or not).

It's just so wonderful to share a meal, laugh, and talk life and business with great friends. I definitely missed that vibe.

At one point in the evening, the topic of conversation turned to religion and faith. Linh talked about how a lot of popular new-age gurus are actually quoting verses and regurgitating ideas from the Bible. I've observed this too.

Our other friend Keren shared a quote that got me thinking. she was quoting someone she knew, and shared:

"With food, everyone has different tastes and preferences, but it's essential for living. Religion is similar."

I may be butchering the actual quote (sorry K!) but you get the point.

Personally, I'd replace "religion" with "faith".

We need to believe in something, even if it's the human spirit and our capacity to do good and be good.

I feel at our core, we all have a desire to belong and to contribute in a positive way.

Additionally, when times are tough and we're being challenged - we need to have faith that things will work out and that we'll make choices that will create a better future.

This includes the choices we make around how we invest our limited time here on Earth, treat other people, and also treat ourselves.

4. The tyranny of job titles: from vanity growth to personal growth - Ness Labs

"We unconsciously apply unofficial rubrics in many areas of our lives. Going to a good school, working for a well-known company, getting recognised for our work through awards and other industry accolades, dating a person we know our friends will like, attending events everyone is going to. It’s as if each part of our lives came with mini-ladders to climb; checklists of things to do in order to grow.

Job titles are just the most visible ladder of them all. It’s interesting that pompous executive job titles were invented during the Victorian era. This is when we started the trend of calling a cleaner a hygiene technician; a bin man a waste management and disposal technician; a call-centre workers a communications executive."
