Learn how to package up your knowledge and sell it online

Published over 3 years ago • 2 min read

I wondered whether I would ever get paid for my writing.

I questioned whether my writing was good enough.

In 2007 I started a personal blog. I was blogging to practise getting my thoughts, ideas and experiences down.

I knew nothing about the BUSINESS of writing for money or who would pay for anything that I had to write about.

Over the years, I learnt something valuable:

Becoming valuable as a writer is largely dependent upon identifying your unique voice, developing consistency, and using your writing ability to express something that matters to others.

I knew nothing about the BUSINESS of writing for money, and for 6 years I didn’t get paid to write.

So I focused on developing my craft so that others COULD see value in it.

I continued writing and publishing daily on my blog, even when nobody was reading.

As I became a better writer, I contributed guest content on other people's blogs.

I also developed the ability to write for different audiences based on specific challenges and questions they wanted answered.

People started to see value in my work and I got the opportunity to become a contributor for Huffington Post.

I then took a job as marketing manager for one of Australia's largest coworking communities, and wrote consistently for their blog and newsletter.

I was finally getting paid to write!

In mid-2016 I pitched a discounted offer for my new blog writing service in an online group that I was a part of. I had 2 people sign up for it.

I now run a business that provides done-for-you case study writing services to owners of professional services businesses and software companies who struggle to put out content that generates leads and closes deals for them.

Over the past 13 years I've learned how to package up my expertise and sell it online.

And you can do it too Reader.

You have experience. You've got skills. You've got knowledge that is valuable to others.

All you need is an understanding of how to productize that knowledge and sell it online.

Now here's the great news - you don't need to wait 13 years to do it.

Today's your day to learn how to make it happen from someone who's actually done it.

Today I'm interviewing Steph Smith, an inspiring entrepreneur who's created some incredible results:

  • Her personal blog reached 400k+ pageviews and thousands of subscribers in its first year.
  • She’s led a 30-person publications team and operated 6 technical blogs, which reached 600k+ email subscribers and millions of monthly readers.
  • She currently works for the Hustle, one of the world’s largest email newsletters. She’s helped them create and scale their premium publication, Trends, to thousands of subscribers and millions in ARR.
  • This year she’s also sold 1783 copies of ebook “Standing Out in 2020: Doing Content Right”

In this session of Authentic Influence Live, you'll learn:

  • How building in the open can contribute to the success of your online product launch
  • How to stand out in a crowded market
  • Other tactics you can use to sell your digital products

We're kicking off at 8am Sydney time (or 4pm New York). So in less than 70 minutes.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Anf
